A Strange Illness<\/strong><\/p>\n Congenital melanocytic nevus (CMN) is a rare condition where a baby is born with a benign pigmented birthmark that grows as the child grows. Worried about the challenges her daughter Vienna might face, Casey quickly spoke with doctors about removal options.<\/p>\n Casey shared that she loves Vienna deeply and wants her to grow up confident and happy, birthmark or not.<\/p>\n The Need to Recognize<\/strong><\/p>\n When people stared at Vienna and treated her differently, Casey became more determined to have the birthmark removed to spare her future discomfort.<\/p>\n Overcoming Obstacles<\/strong><\/p>\n The NHS initially denied the surgery, calling it cosmetic. Casey then turned to crowdfunding and raised $52,000 in one day.
