I Discovered My Husband’s Affair on His Birthday — My Mother’s Ingenious Plan for Revenge

Trina was eager to celebrate her husband Liam’s birthday, but he told her he had to go away for a work trip. However, the real shock came when Trina learned her best friend Mandy was having an affair with Liam. Naturally, Trina plotted her own surprise for them.

When you’re in love, trust is everything. That’s how it was with Liam and me, especially after three years of marriage. I never had a reason to doubt him—until his birthday arrived and shattered everything I believed about love, marriage, and friendship.

Liam’s birthday was approaching, but he told me he had to leave town for a business trip. He promised we’d celebrate later.

“I’m sorry, Trina,” he explained. “But work is really important, and I can’t say no. It’s how we maintain our lifestyle.”

His constant mention of work and “affording our lifestyle” always irked me.

“When I get back, we’ll go out for dinner,” he promised, pulling his suitcase out.

“Okay,” I agreed, although I felt a bit disappointed.

He left the night before his birthday, heading to the airport, and I saw him off with a forced smile.

The next day, I was having breakfast when my mom called.

“Hi, darling! What do you and Liam have planned for his birthday weekend?”

“Nothing, Mom,” I replied. “Liam’s away for work. We’ll celebrate next weekend.”

“Oh, that’s too bad,” she said. “Let’s do something together today, though. I also need to get a gift for Mimi’s baby shower.”

We spent the day shopping, but by late afternoon, we needed a break. While walking down the street, my mom spotted something that would change everything.

She yanked my arm and pointed out a restaurant window.

There they were—Liam and Mandy, sitting together too close for comfort. Mandy caressed Liam’s cheek before leaning in to kiss him.

“What’s going on?” my mom gasped.

I nodded, my heart sinking. “Yes, that’s Liam. And Mandy.”

“Wasn’t he supposed to be away?” my mom asked.

“He was,” I said bitterly. “But I guess he chose to spend his birthday with her.”

My mother’s response was calm. “Your best friend did this to you.”

I considered confronting them, but my mom had a different plan.

“No, darling,” she said, guiding me away. “We won’t confront them now. Trust me, I have a plan.”

She took discreet photos of the couple and led me to a nearby salad bar to explain her strategy.

“Trust the process,” she said, her plan requiring patience.

When Liam returned from his trip, I greeted him with a smile, hiding my true feelings. The following week, my mom delivered the necessary tools for her plan: a fake pregnancy test and nanny cams.

On Saturday, Mandy and her partner Steve joined us for dinner. Everything was set in motion.

During the meal, I casually pulled out the pregnancy test.

“This is a surprise!” Liam exclaimed, trying to mask his discomfort.

I smiled. “And you’ll be the baby’s godfather!”

Mandy forced a smile but looked uncertain.

“But there’s something else I need to tell you,” I continued. “The baby is Steve’s.”

The room fell silent. Steve choked on his food, and Mandy and Liam were stunned.

I casually added, “We’ve been seeing each other for over a year now.”

Liam, angry, accused me of losing my mind.

“I think it’s time for everyone to confess,” I said, staring directly at him and Mandy. “Just like you both did.”

Mandy fled to the bathroom, crying, with Liam following her. Steve turned to me, panic in his eyes.

“How could you lie about that?” he asked.

I pulled out my phone and showed him the footage from the nanny cams.

“This is why,” I said, playing the recording of Mandy and Liam discussing their affair.

When they returned, Steve exploded.

“So, you’ve been using me for my money while cheating on me?” he shouted at Mandy.

He turned to me, anger burning in his eyes.

“You can pack your things, too,” I told Liam.

Confused, he asked, “What about the baby?”

“There is no baby,” I replied. “I wanted to see if you’d actually be excited about it. But you weren’t.”

Liam stormed out, followed by Mandy. Meanwhile, Steve prepared for a divorce.

With a prenuptial agreement in place and my mother’s plan perfectly executed, I wasn’t worried about what came next. I had all the evidence I needed to win in court if Liam tried to contest the divorce.
