Trace Cyrus recently reached out publicly to his adoptive father, Billy Ray Cyrus, urging him to seek help following a concerning performance at the Liberty Ball. Billy Ray, 63, known for his hit “Achy Breaky Heart,” performed at the event on January 20 but faced technical issues and seemed low on energy.
On January 22, Trace shared an emotional Instagram post, including an old photo of them on stage. He expressed admiration for his father, recalling the happiness of being adopted, but admitted he now finds Billy Ray “barely recognizable.”
Trace said he and his sisters, including Miley and Noah, have long been concerned about their father, who has distanced himself from them. He emphasized Noah’s desire for a stronger relationship and offered his support, writing, “I am here for you, just like always.”
Billy Ray later defended his performance, acknowledging technical difficulties and sharing a video from the event, captioned: “This was the most fun I had at the Liberty Ball! You had to be there to experience it.” He concluded with a nod to his classic lyrics, saying, “I just don’t think you understand.”
