Anne Burrell, the celebrated chef recognized for her trademark spiky blonde hair and vibrant personality on the Food Network, has passed away at the age of 55.
As reported by TMZ, emergency crews discovered Burrell unresponsive in her Brooklyn residence on the morning of Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Despite efforts to resuscitate her, she was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy by the city medical examiner is expected to determine the exact cause of death.
A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in 1996, Burrell rose to fame through her hosting roles on Worst Cooks in America and Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. She was also a familiar face on Iron Chef America, admired for her fearless cooking and engaging on-screen energy.
Burrell is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton — whom she married in 2021 — and his son, Javier. She also leaves behind her mother, Marlene; her siblings, Jane and Ben; and her three children: Isabella, Amelia, and Nicolas.
In a heartfelt statement, her family shared, “Anne was a cherished wife, daughter, sister, stepmom, and friend. Her smile could light up any room, and her presence was felt by people around the world. Though she’s no longer with us, her love, energy, and spirit live on.”
