Some Days, I Can’t Even Breathe”: Young Mother of 4 Dies in Tragic Boating Crash, Leaving Behind Grieving Husband and Children

A relaxing family trip on the water turned into heartbreak when a devastating boat crash in Alabama claimed the life of a 27-year-old mother of four, Brittney Sherman. Her sudden passing has left her family shattered and a community mourning the loss of a woman known for her deep love for her children and her unwavering faith.

The tragic accident unfolded around 5:50 p.m. on June 15, 2025, near Bayou Sara in Saraland, Alabama. Two boats collided just south of the Bayou Sara Boat Launch. Brittney, a passenger in one of the vessels operated by a 19-year-old from Lucedale, Mississippi, was thrown overboard.

Her husband, Cody Sherman, and their young son were also aboard the same boat. Both sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The second boat involved in the crash was operated by a 52-year-old man from Wilmer, who escaped unharmed, as did the teenage driver of the first boat. The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

A massive search effort involving seven emergency units was launched as Brittney was reported missing. Crews from Mobile Police, Fire-Rescue, Daphne Search and Rescue, and others scoured the waters through the night. By 11 a.m. the next morning, her body was recovered approximately 100 yards from where she fell into the water.

Brittney’s identity was confirmed shortly after, and loved ones remembered her as a dedicated mother and a woman whose life revolved around her family.

In the days that followed, her grieving husband poured out his sorrow on Facebook in a series of heartbreaking posts.

“My baby and our baby. Brittney, I love you more than anything in this world,” Cody wrote in one tribute. “I promise to take care of these babies for you, sweetheart.”

Despite his pain, he vowed to stay strong for their children. “I’m lost, but I’m not giving up. I’ll make you proud,” he added.

Cody also took time to thank the community for their outpouring of love and support. “This world still has good people in it,” he shared. “I’m overwhelmed with all the love that has been sent our way.”

One photo he shared showed Brittney surrounded by their children. “This is all she ever wanted,” he wrote. “The most perfect wife and mother.”

The couple’s young son, who was also injured in the crash, continues to recover. Cody asked for prayers for his strength and healing: “Please pray my little boy makes a full recovery. He’s the toughest person I’ve ever met.”

In a later message, Cody confessed, “Brittney, you had a light that so many people saw. I find it hard to even breathe sometimes, but I hear you telling me what to do.”

As the investigation continues, the pain lingers for Brittney’s family and friends. Her story serves as a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile life can be—even on what seems like a simple family day out on the water.
