Michael Madsen, the gravel-voiced actor known for his unforgettable tough-guy roles in Quentin Tarantino’s films, has passed away at age 67. According to the New York Times, Madsen died of cardiac arrest after being found unresponsive in his Malibu home on Thursday, as confirmed by his manager, Ron Smith.

His sudden death has deeply affected his younger sister, actress Virginia Madsen. In a heartfelt tribute shared with Variety, Virginia described her brother in beautifully poetic terms.

He became a frequent collaborator of Quentin Tarantino, most notably playing the sadistic Mr. Blonde in Reservoir Dogs and the vengeful Budd in Kill Bill: Vol. 2. He also appeared in The Hateful Eight and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Beyond his screen image, Michael faced deep personal struggles. He was the father of seven children and endured unimaginable loss when his son Hudson died by suicide in 2022 at age 26.
